Shoetime, Baby!

I think its about time I posted again! Been a while, hasn't it? My awful cast is finally out and to my dismay, I still cant walk properly. Everyone's told me it will take a while for me to be able to walk normally and I have a feeling that I wont be able to wear heels for at least a month. Since I had my foot in a cast for over a month I'm tired of all my flats and need to buy a few new ones soon since I'm going to be spending a lot of time in them. Sigh, only if I could afford these delicious Isabel Marant sneakers below... then life wouldn't be so bad without wearing heels. One thing that makes me sad is that I bought three pairs of amazing high heels a few months ago and have hardly worn them. Even worse, I bought the loveliest wedge heel booties from Zara just a week before I broke my foot! I can't wait to start walking normally again! Alexander McQueen Spring 2012

Alexander McQueen may be gone in person, but his style is prominent in his Spring Summer 2012 collection, which was presented at the Paris Fashion Week. Sarah Burton, of Kate Middleton wedding dress fame, presented her designs for Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 with many of her predecessor's signatures: mysteriously masked faces (which surely have a guaranteed client as Lady Gaga), corseted bodices, nature references and a womanly silhouette. 

The collection was half made in the UK and half made in France, all hand sewn, with some by Burton herself. Burton's inspiration came from mermaids and the ocean bed where she dressed  her models in wearing fine lace masks just covering eyes but encasing the whole head. Gowns had details like beads, oyster shells, waterfall ruffles and embroidered lace. Feminine, exquisite and ethereal are a few words that would best describe this collection which featured lots of pastel colors and equally gorgeous shoes.

If you read my post about my broken foot, then you know that I have been wearing a cast for about ten days which was supposed to come off on Saturday 11th Feb, just in time for Valentine's day. I went to the hospital to get my awful plaster of paris cast removed today and get another xray and the good news is I now have a nice comfortable bright blue cast. The bad news is that my injuries haven't healed much and I have to wear it for another three weeks! There goes my February. Guess I should take inspiration from Jessie J and call myself Junie J now (broken foot post reference)

I shall also insert random blurry picture of me in front of a mirror on my birthday last year where I'm trying to pout.

1. Have you ever done something that wasn't you or something you're ashamed of?

No. I'm awesome.

2. What is your biggest fear?

Cockroaches

3. If you could change anything about yourself, what would you change?

I would not change one thing, I'm greedy so I'd change two! I would make sure I was taller and had straight hair. If its a choice between the two, then the hair!

4. What is your addiction?

Chocolate cake and Marlboro Lights. A few years ago it was Coca Cola but I got over it.

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I honestly have no clue! Hopefully very happy, rich and successful.

6. Why and when did you start blogging? 

I started blogging in 2008 and then started again (a bit more regularly) in 2011 because I used to read many fashion blogs and decided that I should start documenting my ideas and sharing stuff about myself and my interests with the world. However, eventually  my choice of topics diversified from fashion to food to film to video games and even cats! 

7. What is your worst habit?

I'm almost always late, in fact I bring new meaning to the term 'fashionably late' because by the time I arrive, its probably out of fashion! I'm also really slow for the first hour after waking up in the morning so if I need to hurry up I just cant. I guess my brain and body signals have some major talking to do because they just cant connect with each other well enough for the first hour every single day.

8. If you had one year left to live, what would you do?

I would travel the world, party my bum off and do lots of crazy stuff! 

9. What is your biggest wish? 

For a wishing ring ;)

10. How do you find your inspiration?

I find inspiration from everywhere! Right from the internet to movies I watch to books/magazines I read to things I see on the street. 

11. Describe yourself in one sentence.

I'm so awesome I can't describe myself in one sentence. No, actually, I just don't know what to write.

Pour a little sugar on it baby!

Every now and then, I get an immense cake craving. Since the broken foot has left me quite home bound, I wallow in self pity and crave something sweet really often. I have a major thing for brightly colored or pretty looking desserts. Feast your eyes, my lovelies!

I really like Katy Perry, she has a fabulous voice, bubbly personality and her look always screams fun. Katy Perry isn't just about the music. The pop star is a performer in every sense of the word. From her retro pinup girl outfits to her bright latex dresses to her hair to her ever changing rainbow hued hair, she is not afraid to experiment. Yet, she does it in a way where it is actually wearable and not as over the top as Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj. Her pop vocals surprisingly go well with her cool, retro-inspired pinup costumes when she's performing and when it comes to the red carpet, she dons something which is either glamorous or something entirely unexpected, like the light-up gown she wore at the Met Gala. Another thing I love about her is that she embraces her voluptuous body and dresses in a way which totally works for her body. I personally love wearing fitted short dresses like these as they work for my body type really well.
