Restaurant Review - Salsa At The Corinthians Resort & Club Pune

In the beginning of this year, I shifted to a new house which overlooks The Corinthians Resort & Club, a luxurious resort across 25 acres. I have been to their Brewery a couple of times before but always wanted to check out their restaurants but never managed to make it as I always end up going to my standard favorite restaurants in the other side of town. However, this desire of mine and my mom's was finally fulfilled when I was invited to Mughlai Magic - the Kebab and Biryani Festival at their restaurant Salsa a few days ago.

Salsa is a vibrant multi cuisine restaurant which offers delicious Mediterranean and Indian cuisine and I got to try a wide range of authentic Biryanis and feast on lots of delicious Kebabs.

To start with the vegetarian Kebabs, there was the Kaju Paneer Pudina Tikki (Cashew, Cottage Cheese & Mint Cutlet), Stuffed Soya Kebab and Shahi Kebab (Royal Kebab). All three were really good but what particularly stood out was the Stuffed Soya Kabab, the white one in the middle. It was perfectly tender and juicy and stuffed with what looked like a spinach paste. In spite of being a hardcore carnivore, I really liked all three.

The Non Vegetarian fare consisted of the Murg Kalimiri Kebabs, Fish Chitra Kebab and Lamb Seekh Kebab. My favorite out of the three was the Murg Kalimiri as it was tender and flavorful and was an absolute delight to my taste buds. My mom preferred the Fish Chitra Kabab as she is a huge fish lover (Coincidentally her name is Chitra too haha)
When it comes to Biryani, there was a wide range of them. In the vegetarian section, I was surprised to see Kathal Ki Biryani ( Jackfruit Biryani) because I never thought that existed and knew that I had to try it. It was pretty good actually! Being a huge lamb lover, I also had the Kacche Gosht Ki Biryani was exactly how a good Biryani should be. However, the biggest winners which blew my mind away were the contents of the two bowls on my plate. One was Dal Makhani (black lentil soup), one of the best I've ever had in Pune and the other was Mirchi Ka Salan which took me back in time, straight to Hyderabad again. For those who don't know about it, Mirchi Ka Salan is a popular spicy curry in Hyderabadi cuisine and is served along with Biryanis and Hyderabad is a city famous for its Biryanis. Before I moved to Pune, I was living in Hyderabad for three years so I've eaten a lot of Biryani and Mirchi Ka Salan.
Okay, so here's another tid bit about me for all my international readers - I originally belong to a city called Kolkata which is in the East of India (but I've never lived there as my dad was in the army) and is famous for its sweets. There are sweet shops everywhere and we have lots of special varieties of Bengali sweets. In fact, I just went to Kolkata earlier this month for a family function. The strange part now - I can't tolerate Bengali sweets! I don't like most Indian sweets with a few exceptions, and one of them is Gulab Jamun. Oh my god, I love Gulab Jamun. When I was a kid, I'd make my mom buy a pack and make them at home and would devour like 10-15 in one go. I don't buy them anymore because my daily food intake is already enough to feed a family of four. So, moving on to desserts, you guessed it right, I had my favorite - Gulab Jamun. If you ever get a chance to try these, make sure you do, and you'll know what I'm talking about :)

Overall, I loved the food and service at Salsa and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new place to dine in Pune. And as I type this, I can see the Corinthians outside my window and can't wait to go back again and try more from their menu.  Have any of you tried Indian food? What was your favorite?

My Envy Box - April 2014

I'm not a beauty product or makeup hoarder but I love them in small doses and My Envy Box gives me exactly that. This luxury product sampling service is a fantastic beauty box concept in India and I have loved my boxes in the last few months. You can read about my previous boxes here

The April edition of this box was a cute pink color and I fell in love with it instantly!

The products in this month's box were -

Benefit the POREfessional Pro Balm

This month's box primarily focuses on skincare and includes a decent sized sample of an Almond Orange face scrub by Skin Yoga. This is a 100% natural product which came with a cute nest (haha, that's my interpretation) I'm going for a shower as soon as I finish this post, so I'm going to use the scrub right away.

The H2O Spa Sea Moss Body Wash smells divine and came in a very generous sized sample. I've read great reviews about H20's products and have always wanted to try them out, so this is perfect for me! Will be saving this one for a vacation!

There were two whitening creams in the box ( After all, India is the epicentre of the demand of a fairness creams ) by Avene and Za.

I've always been a huge fan of Shiseido having used a bunch of their beauty and makeup products and was delighted to learn that Za is one of their brands.  It was launched in India last month as is pronounced as zee-ei ( I'm sure you would have never guessed that! Neither did I!) The box has a sample of the ZA True White Day Cream. It has a very pleasant fragrance and I found it very moisturizing and creamy. The other was the Avene Sensitive White Whitening Essence. I prefer this one over the Za product as this is very light on your skin and offers just the perfect amount of moisture.

The coolest part of the box was the Benefit POREfessional Pro Balm (pore minimizing primer) which came with a Marvel Custom Edition comic book ‘SpyGal’ which is a really cute comic character made by marvel for Benefit. I actually sat and read the entire comic the moment I opened the box. The only sad part is that the sample of the POREfessional Pro Balm is really really tiny so it won't give more than one use. I use a bunch of products by Benefit and they are all great so I can't wait to try this one.

Apart from these products and the usual cards with information and usage about each product, they also sent a discount voucher for a home decor store called Monsoon and Beyond which has some really nice cushion covers.

What did you think of My Envy Box? If you're based in India, you must try this out! Priced at a reasonable Rs 850 per month, not only does the box let you sample premium luxury products but you can also buy the full sized product at their store for a discount! Great deal, isn't it?

Outfit - Festival Style

With Coachella going on in full swing, I decided to share a festival inspired look with you. As I may have mentioned in my previous posts, I have an immense love for both black and boho fashion. So, I made sure my festival style outfit has a bit of both. I was shopping in Mumbai last year when I came across this adorable tank top which has the exact same back as the one I posted a few years ago and obviously I had to buy it because it's so cute and versatile!

Being a former lover of bodycon skirts, I had to pick this one too because of its funky print ( if you look closely, it even has a galaxy print backdrop ) I finished the look with this colorful boho dress from Romwe which can be worn by itself or as a cover up. This outfit screams for a bag as hippie and I love all things fringe so this lovely bag I picked up from Suite Blanco in Dubai last year is just perfect for the look. Of course, a festival inspired look is incomplete without a headband so I put this colorful one from Forever 21 to use.

Geo Bambi Chocolate Review | CircleLensDiary.com

I think I finally need to confess to all of you that I'm a Cullen! Check out these eyes babay! Yeah, I'm a huge Twilight fan. Or in other words, a Twihard. And just like every third girl in the planet, I'm in love with Edward Cullen. This look was pretty unintentional but I couldn't help but notice that I look like a Cullen. And obviously, I really love my Cullen eyes. Anyway its about time I stopped acting like such a fan girl. Read on to see how I got the look.

I'm constantly looking for ways to enhance my eyes as I'm not very fond of their color, shape or size and to add to that, my brows and eyelashes are really pretty invisible too so I love wearing eyeliner and experimenting with colored circle lenses, which you may have noticed from my earlier posts. I also love Gyaru makeup so I've been reading up and have been trying to brush up my makeup skills!

I got my Cullen-esque eyes thanks to Geo Bambi Chocolate Lenses from CircleLensDiary.com, a fantastic online store that sells loads of authentic colored circle lenses and has more than 10,000 pairs in stock. They ship worldwide too. These lenses are really comfortable and in spite of being dark, the color is a reddish brown with a thick black rim on the edge and the yellow in the center blends your natural eye color with the lenses. Comfort wise, these tend to dry after 4-5 hours, so I recommend wearing them for shorter durations or to carry eyedrops with you. However, the feeling you get when you wear these is amazing (maybe its the Twilight fan talking)

To start off with my eyelash issue, I used Etude House Lash Perm 3 Step Volumecara from Cosmetic Love, a Korean beauty webstore which stocks a wide range of cosmetics and beauty products by brands like Etude House, Tony Moly, Holika Holika and many more.

This mascara has a unique tube where each twist dispenses a different amount of mascara on the wand, depending on the look you're going for. Twist #1 produces a natural look while Twist #2 gives you a slightly more dolled up look with a more volume and Twist #3 is more of a dramatic night look for a party.

The Lash Perm 3 Step Volumecara has three different settings. You need to turn the pink part to adjust the amount of product on the wand and customize your lash style. Here is some info about it -

You can definitely see the difference now. My lashes instantly look longer and are more defined. Unfortunately, I missed step 2 and twisted it all the way to step 3. Oops!

This is so amazing right? You can actually see my lower lashes now. They look thick, defined and my eyes definitely look bigger (And Cullen like)!

I've used a really pricey mascara by Nina Ricci a few years ago and it irritated my lenses after a few hours of wear so I totally stopped using all mascaras because I'm always wearing lenses and have eye allergies. However, This mascara is really fabulous! The formula sticks to your lashes like a dream and hasn't caused my eyes any irritation. As you can see from the pictures, it defines and separates my lashes really well.

Mission accomplished!

Here's my happy face!

If you love Korean skincare and makeup, you must check out Cosmetic Love right away! And for Cullen eyes (or any pretty color), check out CircleLensDiary.com

Outfit - The Dress Of My Dreams

If you may have noticed from my outfit posts in the past year, I rarely wear dresses. The reason behind this is that I just cant seem to find ones that suit my style. Local and Online stores in India have dresses that are either too girly and cutesy or too formal and ladylike so I never found anything that fit my style. However, I always craved for more dresses in my closet and wondered how I'd find something I love. My prayers were answered by Sheinside, which has an amazing collection of stunning dresses and I was delighted to find this beautiful dress on their site. I love everything about it - fit, color, fabric, style. For now, I've found the dress of my dreams.

It has beautiful lace detailing all over along with sheer panels on the waist and arms.

The back is really pretty too!

I paired it with pointy toe black heels from Zara and a chic perspex box clutch I found on Banggood.com, a site that stocks a huge range of products (both fashion and non fashion related) at unbelievable prices! I was always fascinated by a clear bag so I'm glad I finally got my hands upon one.

In fact I love this dress so much, I'll be wearing it on my birthday next month :)

Outfit - Black Magic

The Little Black Dress or LBD has always been considered a wardrobe essential. The dress's versatility comes from its figure flattering color and the fact that it can be worn for any occasion and with any other color. For a few years, I had a major phase of wearing dresses in every color possible but as the years have passed, I'm back to my love for black dresses. To be honest, more than half my wardrobe is black and I have black clothes in every style possible - edgy, glamorous, sporty, boho. You name it, I've got it (in black!) I have often said the following to myself when I'm dressing up in a hurry - When in doubt, wear black!

The Little Black Dress is not just a fashion accessory. It’s an institution – an iconic fashion symbol. So I got this lovely LBD from Sheinside - an online store I love more and more each day. They have a fantastic collection of clothing and accessories and are definitely my favorite online store without a doubt.

The dress has a sheer mesh panel on the top with a sweetheart neckline. Its a bit crumpled here because it was just too hot to iron it.

If you remember one of my earlier posts, I always wanted a 2d style bag. I just love their quirk factor and how amazing they look in pictures. Thankfully, I found this adorable 2d bag on Banggood, an online store which sells pretty much everything under the roof and at the most insane prices!

I completed the look with these black lace-up booties I got from LovelyShoes a few months ago.
