My Envy Box - October 2014

As I've been super late posting about the previous Envy Boxes, I made sure I'd post about the October box in this month itself. With the two major Indian festivals of Dusshera and Diwali, this month's box was in a festive shade of gold. To add to that, it was their anniversary box curated in collaboration with Vogue so it had a lot of surprises in store for us. Was I pleased? Hell yeah!

Since I've been moping a lot about my hair lately, I was glad to see a hair product - Sebastian Potion 9, a styling treatment that claims to make hair shiny and healthy. Am stashing this one in my travel kit right away.

Next up is Innisfree Green Tea Sheet Mask which I haven't used yet. I've read lots of rave reviews about the Green tea range by this brand, so am sure it will be amazing.

Probably the best product in the box, Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup remover came in a very generous sized sample. This one is the winner of the Vogue Beauty Awards 2014 for the Best Makeup Remover. I've used it a few times and I love the fact that it removes makeup fast and effortlessly.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief: An oil-free moisturizer in a teensy sample which is great to stash in your purse or wallet since winter is just around the corner.

A product I was delighted to see in the box is Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair which is one of the top-selling products from the label and I've been using it from day one!

Skin Yoga Sandalwood Saffron face mask - I've used Skin Yoga products before thanks to the previous boxes, and they are all great. My mom's used this one and quite liked it.

Just when I rave about Flash Tattoos on my blog my wish gets fulfilled by My Envy Box and I get a sample of this temporary tattoo by a Parisian brand called Tatouage Ephemere.

Remember the L’Occitane Spa I reviewed on my blog recently? I guess I'm going back soon again because the box also had a gift certificate of the spa worth Rs. 1000.

Besides this, it also had a Estee Lauder gift card for a complimentary sample but I've given that to my mom. Overall, this was definitely my favorite box in the past one year and I must say that team Envy Box have done a fantastic job with the festive box. Lets see what the November box brings! From their Facebook page, I'm guessing that it is doing to be a detox box. Lets see!

Outfit - Think Pink!

I stopped wearing pink clothes many years ago because its too girly and cutesy and I couldn't relate to it. However, a couple of months ago I saw a blogger wearing a gorgeous outfit in the same shade (here's her look) and that inspired me to get this adorable pink dress from Milanoo! Cute right? Its available in Mint too!

I've got a beautiful white lace dress and cute cat shaped bag from Milanoo before (remember this post?) so I must say I love their collection, service and quality.

These photos were taken by my talented friend Akhil, check out his work here!

How do you like my look? Do you also steer clear from pink?

Piccing - Fashion & Style App

Thanks to Pinterest and Instagram, we often find ourselves drooling over a certain outfit or accessory but it can be quite a mission to find where to buy it. But now, to make life easier for us, there is a new site called Piccing which offers a shopping experience which makes every item in an image accessible. It is a platform for users to collect, categorize and organize images of all the things they love —with a direct link to purchase the products within these images —from their desktops and mobile phones.

This site/ app enables you to login, and choose categories you're interested in. Besides fashion, they have home decor, baby, beauty, crafts, architecture and much more to choose from!

Now I'm always glued to my pc (yeah, I'm kinda old fashioned) but for most of you cellphone addicts, they have an app too! Here's how it works: Download the free app. After making a profile, you can "picc" pictures from the homepage or from browsing all of the various categories. Piccing a picture means that it's on your profile (much like pinning a picture to your Pinterest board). You can also search for any kind of picture imaginable using the search bar, like lipstick or braid. If you want to add a picture, you can upload one on the website or from the app.

Some of the pictures are also "marked" with little orange circles. This means that you can tap a mark and browse similar items, like a floral kimono or a maxi dress. See something you like in a picture? Tap the mark, browse the items, click on any item you want, and it will take you to the site where you can buy it.

Wait – there’s more! You can upload your own images to the Piccing App to share your style/finds so it is an amazing tool to show off your personal style.

Here is a nifty video that explains how it works -

So basically, Piccing is a fun Pinterest-like app where you can picc pictures of inspiration for later and also buy similar items all in one app. It's easy to use and browse. Try it out and let me know what you think!

Outfit - Kimono Crush

When I was a kid, a neighbor had gifted me an authentic silk kimono from Japan which I wore to every costume party thanks to which I walked away with the first prize every time. A few years ago, it struck me that I could wear my kimono as a really cool jacket but to my dismay, my mom had already given it away.

I guess the fashion gods were listening and suddenly, the traditional Japanese robe was back in stores with a modern twist! I love all things oriental and all things boho so now that my dream came true, what did I do? Well, lets just say I have five kimonos in my closet! However, a lot of people are confused about how to style one so here I am sharing some ideas and showing you how I like wearing mine.
Lets give you some tips now -

  • Kimonos are a great way to make a simple outfit interesting. You can wear them over dresses, shorts, rompers, pants and skirts (Click here to see how I wore one over a skirt. I personally prefer them with shorts though)
  • Whether you choose silk, cotton, lace, fringe, no-fringe, long, short, neutral, bright, animal print, or tribal, a kimono adds a boho vibe to any outfit (I LOVE all things boho).
  • If you're wearing a top, dress or romper with prints, I'd recommend a solid colored kimono on top and vice versa. (I NEED TO STOP talking about myself in brackets)
  • A kimono also doubles as a swimsuit coverup! Perfect for the beach or poolside.
  • You can even belt it for a different silhouette or loosely tie it in front for a unique look (short kimonos only, of course!)
  • Wear your kimono with wide-leg or flare jeans for a seriously boho look with a ’70s vibe

And that is the end of Kimono class!

So here are two different looks I've created by throwing on beautiful kimonos I got from Blackfive over a basic cami and cute crochet shorts from Banggood. I accessorized with a fringed bag (I love all things fringe) and my favorite sunglasses from Yoyomelody and a pair of peep toe booties.

Though I'm more partial to the floral fringe kimono but there's no denying that the plain one looks really lovely too! Which outfit do you prefer?

With Diwali exactly a week from today, Indians all around the world are definitely really excited! This is the festival of lights and crackers and is also associated with gifting your loved ones. People normally gift clothing, electronics and perfumes to family members but when it comes to gifting relatives and friends, sweets, dry fruits, lamps and candles are the most popular choices. My Envy box - September 2014

Okay, this one is super late even though I received my box exactly a month ago but was really busy with travels and had a lot of posts in the pipeline! As I've mentioned before My Envy Box is a luxury product sampling box in India priced at Rs 850 that gives you five products that usually cover skincare, hair, fragrance and occasionally makeup. The September box came as a pleasant surprise as it is smaller, and is a lovely shade of pink and the branding is done in a classy shade of gold unlike all the previous boxes. Even when it comes to the products, it did not fail to impress (if I don't like the products much I tend to skip doing a review for that month)

The products in the box were -

L’Occitane Almond Shaping Delight - Since I visited the L'Occitane spa very recently, I'm sure these will be amazing. Am saving them for a vacation as I hate using up sachet samples at home!

ZA Perfect Solution Restoring Collagen Cream - This is a decent sized pink tub so am going to use it once winter starts. The weather in Pune is already getting drier day by day, so I'm sure I'm going to need this fast.

Bottega Di Lungavita Vita Age Face Scrub - This is a nice and creamy scrub. It doesn't exfoliate much, but acts as a good moisturizer.

Thalgo Cryodetox Mask - I haven't used this yet but am sure it will be great as all Thalgo products are.

Roses De Chloe Perfume - The best part about this box! I love roses so am saving it for a special occassion.

The October box is a Diwali special in collaboration with Vogue so I can't wait to see what's in store for us! It should be arriving anytime in the next couple of days so this time I'll try and post about it asap! And for my international readers, Diwali is the festival of lights and crackers and is one of the most loved, celebrated and important festivals of my country :)

Do you subscribe to any boxes? Let me know!

Argan Dew Hair Products Review

My hair has always been one of my biggest concerns because of its bad behavior because it sure has a personality of its own. The shampoos, conditioners, masks and serum which I have been for a couple of months suddenly leave my hair rough and dry. And this has been going on for many years so I need to keep changing products from time to time as it develops immunity to pretty much everything. The latest product which suddenly stopped working for me is (gasp) Morrocan Oil which I was raving about a few months ago in this post.

So, in a quest to find a new hair product that would work for me, I discovered Argan Dew, a brand from Israel which uses pure Argan oil in all its products.

Argan oil is an intensive blend of essential fatty acids with a strong antioxidant effect, used for centuries in traditional remedies for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. Argan Dew combines the power of Argan oil and vitamins that work together to hydrate, protect and regenerate the skin and hair. The products are SLS/SLES and paraben free, this unique oil protects your hair, making it more supple and vibrant.

I had been sent samples of the Replenishing Hair Mask, Miraculous Argan Oil and the Protective Argan serum. The hair mask and Argan oil came attached little cards explaining the benefits of Argan oil. The first product I tried was the Replenishing Hair Mask. I applied this after shampooing, making sure the lengths and ends were covered and I then left it on for 5 minutes. It has a thick creamy texture and lovely smell. The sad part is that though I've read rave review about it, it didn't help my hair at all because it's in the bad behavior phase. However, the other two worked like a charm! I apply the Miraculous Argan Oil on wet hair evenly like a serum and the best part is that even though its an oil, it doesn't make your hair greasy at all, unlike the hair oils available in the Indian market. It has a very light texture too, and is not thick and chunky like the Moroccan oil brand serum. It makes my hair feel lovely and soft, adding shine and improving its brittle texture.

The Protective Argan Serum is a leave in serum that eliminates frizz and prevents split ends. It also protects hair from sun damage. It definitely  makes my hair soft and shiny and makes it more manageable! It also has a strong yet pleasant smell and a little bit goes a long way.

Overall, I'm really happy with the Argan oil and serum and recommend you to try it if you're looking for some pampering for your hair! Visit www.argandew.com for more!

Tidebuy Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday may be far away but Tidebuy's already offering us major discounts on clothing and accessories! And since Halloween is just around the corner, they even have a lot of cute Cyber Monday Couple Outfits Sales in case you're interested. Here a bunch of my favorites from the sale -

I love LBDs  with full sleeves so this black lace dress has the best of both! Also, fellow Britney Spears fans may remember that she wore a similar black lace dress in the 2001 VMAs.

Though a very basic style, I like the detailing on this one. It would look amazing as a gown if sheer fabric could be added to it.

I like the neckline on this colorblock dress.

You can never have too many swimsuits! This cutout monokini would produce some interesting tan lines!

I've been eyeing a black cover-up like this one for a while!

Tidebuy has massive discounts and really cheap prices and a great collection! To see more, you can check this link out -  View Tidebuy Cyber Monday Sales 2014. Have you every shopped from there?

Bonusbay - Shop Online and Get Cash Back!

There are two types of people, those who spend money online and those who spend wisely online and get additional discount and rebates. There's Nina who spent 20,000 rupees last month on Flipkart and bought herself a new phone. On the same day, Farah ordered the same phone on Flipkart but along with the phone, she also received a 200 Rs gift bonus with no additional hassle. How did that happen?

It happened because Farah did not go directly to the Flipkart website but went to Bonusbay.in - a free service that helps you get money back on your online purchases on over 500 stores including Flipkart, Amazon, Jabong, Pizzahut and more. This is exactly what I do when I shop online and save money with every purchase I make thanks to Bonusbay.

Here is what you should do:

1. Go to www.Bonusbay.in
2. Register by providing just contact details
3. Click on the store of your choice on the Bonusbay site and make the purchase as you do. There is hardly anything you cannot find it there!
4. Bonusbay gets to know how much you spent on the shop and deposits the gift money in your account
5. As soon as you have 1000 rupees in your account you can withdraw it or you can consider it as piggybank and make your savings there
6. Always remember to spend wiser!

By the way, now Mrs Gupta is also a Bonusbay user and visits her favorite online stores via Bonusbay.in. Last month she saved Rs. 500 on her online purchases. So what are you waiting for?

At this point, there are numerous brands in different categories like beauty, health, fashion, electronics, home & lifestyle, grocery, kids, entertainment and many more which are a part of Bonusbay.in. So make sure to check this website before you make any purchases online! And here's a special bonus for all my readers, just go to http://www.bonusbay.in/junewantsitall and get a welcome bonus of Rs 250 for your online purchases through it!
