Restaurant Review - Sigree Global Grill

Rocky and Mayur are food enthusiasts who have  traveled more than 120,000 kilometers across the length and breadth of India over the course of 7 years in search of memorable eating experiences. Now, Rocky and Mayur have ventured out to explore food from all parts of India and curate videos on Askme.com so I'm contributing my part by relishing my favorite dishes at Sigree Global Grill  and sharing my views with you all!

You can also upload your video review on AskMe and stand a chance to meet Rocky and Mayur.

So I finally joined a gym after talking about it for five years and have been working out a few days a week since the beginning of this month. However, I make sure I ruin my efforts every time I go to the gym. You know how? Some days I hit my favorite watering hole after workout and the other day, I decided to go to an all-you-can-eat-buffet restaurant after an hour of spinning class.  I'm not the biggest fan of Indian food, so when I heard that Sigree Global Grill serves international cuisine, I was more than excited to try it out. There’s marinated grill from across the world — British, Chinese, Mediterranean, Mexican and of course Indian kebabs.

As you enter the restaurant, you can see that the interiors have a chic contemporary global feel,
A meal at Global Grill starts with the bread platter that comes to the table as soon as you’re seated. It  has an assortment like focaccia, garlic bread, lavash, nachos, masala buns and more, with dips like hummus, flavoured butter and cheese and different versions of salsa. Apart from soup and salads, there's an avalanche of starters that are lined up on the live grill on your table and are  refilled from time to time on request. The menu changes every day, with an array of vegetarian and non vegetarian starters, main courses and desserts.

The starters had two types of chicken tikkas, prawns and fish on the grills. From what I remember, there was a Fish hariyali tikka, Chicken Pesto, Mutton Chop Kebabs and two more fish and chicken preparations which I cannot name as I forgot to take note of it and was too busy stuffing my face because everything was excellent. Along with the starters there was pizza too. And it was a simple thin crust cheese pizza, but baked to perfection. It had a generous amount of cheese in it and was delicious. There was also a live pasta counter that offered different types of pasta, sauces and vegetables that could be added to your dish according to your choice. I skipped this as I make way too much pasta at home.

Moving on to the main course, I tried the Chicken Methi which was outstanding and made me feel like I was eating in a restaurant in North India as its flavors were so authentic. I also had the Laal maas, an Indian mutton curry and Thai yellow curry with fish. Both dishes were fantastic and full of flavor. There was Biryani too but I skipped it.

The vegetarian section had dishles like Thai yellow curry, Paneer Tikka Masala, Subz biryani, Dal Sigree (which was like dal makhni) and rice seasoned with herbs. There were also about two or three types of Indian breads. I skipped all of these and chose to have the Vegetarian Lasagna which came in a nice creamy cheesy sauce and was a welcome change compared to tomato based ones. I also loved the macaroni salad which had a very unique mustard based dressing but what caught me by surprise and delight was the pink salad you see below. At first thought, you'd obviously realize its beetroot, but it had pieces of beet colored pineapple too which gave it a lovely burst of sweetness.

Now that I had eaten enough food to feed a small family, it was time to challenge my stomach and demolish the desserts. I usually skip desserts almost every time I dine which is why you might have noticed that my restaurant reviews never mention any. However, this time the dessert spread was right next to our table, and they looked so good that they managed to lure me in.  There were many types of mousse, cakes, brownies and tarts and I tried a bunch of them and I must say that all were pretty good! In fact, after eating so many desserts in one go, I actually realized that they should maybe just have a dessert buffet option for people who don't want a meal but just want the sweet stuff. Not a bad idea right? We don't have dessert buffets in India for sure. Maybe someone should start the concept! After all, people here have quite a liking for sweets.

My Envy Box - July 2015

The July Edition of My Envy Box came with a bevy of full sized products and was an absolute delight! In a lovely shade of purple, this month's box came with a lot of skincare products and I must say I have quite a home spa set now thanks to the wonderful lot of masks, scrubs, lotions and potions that I've got thanks to My Envy Box. Okay, kidding about the last one, there were no potions.

As each month passes by, the contents of the boxes keep getting more and more generous giving subscribers incredible value for money. In fact, in the past three months, the boxes came with products worth way more than what you pay (Rs 850 per box) and the quantities of the samples are good enough to last you a few months at least.

To start off with the masks, there were two in this month's box. The first is a large 50 gram tub of Ananda Spa's Aloe Gel and Rose Distillate Hydrating Mask. For those of you who don't know, Ananda Spa is situated in the Himalayas and is voted as one of the world's leading spa destinations. Needless to say, their products have got to be fantastic. This non sticky mask absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling refreshed and effortlessly hydrated. I can say so as I just used it today! Remove with cotton pad soaked in rose toner/water once the product has sunk in completely.

Moving on to the second mask, there's the adorably packaged Weather Warrior sheet mask from the Canadian brand MaskerAide. I have read rave reviews about all their masks so am very excited to try out this one.  Enriched with Aloe, Green Tea, Witch Hazel and Argan Oil, this mask helps soothe, calm and heal your skin allowing it to breathe a sigh of relief when you’ve spent the day baking on the beach or skiing down the slopes and your skin has taken a beating. The weather has been pretty kind to us in Pune lately and its cold and rainy, so I'm going to save this one for the next time I hit a beach and my skin needs to be rescued from the sun and UV damage.

Another handy addition to the box is H2O Plus Aqualibrium Dual-Action Eye Makeup Remover. This powerful, oil-free dual-action makeup remover promises to remove the most stubborn eye makeup and is perfect for me as I'm quite regular with my gel eyeliner. To add to it, they even gave us an eyeliner by Catrice in a lovely brownish bronze shade. The downside? This color is really light and since most of us Indians are pretty brown, this looks almost invisible on me. I think this would be good on girls with either very pale or very dark skin. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me.

Last but not the least is a sample of Roberto Cavalli Paradiso (I don't know why the paper cover was crumpled inside the box! Vigorous shaking during transit maybe?) Anyway, its inside what counts. Like I showed you in my Travel Bag post, I tend to save all my samples and stash them in my purse and wallet for times I travel so that I have a variety of fragrances to choose from while I'm on holiday! Am obviously doing the same with this one. From what I read on Fragrantica, Paradiso is described as a floral - woody fragrance of the Mediterranean and as a heavenly bouquet that opens with citrus notes of bergamot and mandarin, blending with the floral heart of jasmine. Most Cavalli fragrances are woody floral and quite feminine and sophisticated so I know what to expect from this.

Well what can I say? My Envy Box is just getting better and better each month and if you've not tried it yet, you're definitely missing out. Check out their site here and give it a one month trial if you like. I can guarantee you that you won't be disappointed.  A bunch of my friends have subscribed to it after taking my advice, and we're all loving it! Not only do we get to try fantastic prestige products from acclaimed brands, but the samples also prove very handy for when you're traveling. A total win win situation!

Restaurant Review - Hoppipolla

After hearing rave reviews about this place, I finally went to Hoppipola last month. This all day dining and bar is the place where you can walk in anytime with friends and enjoy good food and pocket friendly drinks with some fun games and music. The decor has a Mediterranean vibe with a large indoor section and a beautifully done garden like outdoor section. The menu leaves you spoilt with choice as the both the food and bar menu have numerous options, all of which are very reasonably priced. Thus, its no surprise that this place is a huge hit among the youth of the city. They even have board games that you can play and host drinking games too! How fun is that?
On the last Thursday of the every month they have a Chuggathon, and the champion wins free beer for the entire month. And they have cute pink and blue ones for girls and guys, which are all d! As I entered the place, I was amused to read their rules! Check them out -

I tried a bunch of dishes and drinks there so here goes! I just realized that did a lot of food reviews last month thanks to which I've put on weight and now need to work out religiously to lose it all.

We started with the OMG which is basically crispy cheese stuffed mushrooms. These were yum and perfect with drinks.

The mocktails and cocktails are absolutely delicious. I don't really like sweet drinks much but the celery and watermelon cooler was fabulous and refreshing. Never thought the two would make such a nice combo.

The ginger twist is another drink I recommend.

If you love spicy food like I do, do try the Harrisian which is basically grilled fish in delicious Tunisian spices.

The soul sticks (chicken) were tender and juicy. Great finger food!

Moving on the alcohol, I tried to Dirty Martini and it was awesome. I don't know why I don't order this more often because I absolutely love martinis. Note to self - Drink more martinis

I couldn't find this pizza on the menu but it was recommended by the chef as he realized I like spicy food. This is a spicy chicken pizza so make sure you try this as it was heavenly!

The only dish which was a disappointment was the fish and chips. The batter was bland and it was way too oily. Avoid this for sure.

Last, but definitely not the least are the Bullfrog and the Guava Balsamic Mary. For those of you who don't know, the Bullfrog is a variation of the notorious Long Island Ice Tea (which I tend to order a lot) which uses blue curacao instead of cola. The Guava balsamic is a variation of a Bloody Mary that uses Guava juice in it. It was really nice! At this point, I finally realized that my camera settings weren't right so now that I fixed it, you can also see how bright and cheerful the outer seating areas is!

Like I said, Hoppipola is not just a food and drink place but has a lot of other fun stuff. They have a wall full of clocks and they give you once chance to open any one of the little doors. If you find a shot glass, then you get a free shot!

Click to add a blog post for Hoppipola - All Day Bar & Bonhomie on ZomatoThere are two outlets of Hoppipola in the city. The one in Aundh has been around for a couple of years and is quite a party place bustling and full of youngsters. In Pune terms, its like the High Spirits of that side of town. I went to the newly opened branch in Amanora! As you can see, the place screams fun so you should check it out!

Outfit - Gypsy Girl

This one borders between a festival outfit or a costume and the moment I looked at myself in the mirror, the first thing that came to my mind was a gypsy woman. This eccentric look is great for all the free spirited boho girls out there who have a love for black. Fringed kimonos and bags are very common, but this fringed skirt is truly unique. I got it from Walktrendy.com, a new site I discovered that has the largest stock of fabulous clothing I have ever seen till date. It took me a good ten days to decide what to even buy because everything is so fantastic on their site! You must check it out! I paired it with a crop top and threw on a black jacket. A gyspy look is never complete without jewelry so I added a headband, large pendant and lots of bangles.

Daily Essentials Wishlist

I'm always on the go and spend most of my day outside my house so my car is always loaded with a bunch utility items for the day. Here are some of my favorite essentials I've put together that I'd like to carry with me.

I don't wear lipstick during the day and always carry lip balm with me so Posie balm by Benefit is a great way to keep lips soft and hydrated with a very subtle hit of color. It gets really hot during the day till the sun doesn't set so these wet wipes from H&M are great to keep me feeling fresh while I'm on the go. I often end up hitting a club or a bar to catch up with friends after work so I always carry little vials of perfume in my bag like this Victoria's Secret roll on perfume. My car is always stashed with an extra pair (or two!) of shoes but I make sure I always have a pair of comfortable shoes like these adorable ballet flats from Forever 21. Even though I crank up the air con, driving in the afternoon heat is really dehydrating so I make sure I'm always carrying water with me. I recently discovered detox bottles which are super cool as they have a fruit infuser basket to make your water tasty and healthy as well as time stamps on the back to help you reach your water goals hourly. I want one badly! All the tiny pretty things fit into my handbag but I also carry my charger, my kindle, a kimono and a pair of sunglasses along with an occasional change of clothes, so this backpack from FjallravenCanada is perfect for storing all of the rest. The best part is that it has adequate space for a laptop too and is functional and light.

So these are a bunch of things that I don't leave the house without. What about you? Let me know yours in the comments below!
