What Your Blog's Name Says About You

Coming up with a name for your blog might be one of the hardest things about blogging. You want it to tell the reader who you are or what you intend to talk about. But it also needs to show off your personality and possible blogging niche. But what you might not know, your blog name says a lot about your character. No need for astrological signs or a personality quiz. This post is by Helene from Helene In Between, a fantastic and inspiring blog I follow, so I'm sharing this post with you all.

Your Name.  If your name is part of your blog then you really want people to know your name. You wanted to be different than the others out there and so your name was what you thought would be original. You probably enjoy rum and diet cokes and have a hard time finding a matching pair of socks. You have a hard time being serious and sometimes you're too sarcastic.

An Emotion. Examples: "Calm" "Happy" "Joy" You are excited about life and want to share that with others. You are a die hard Starbucks addict and use emoticons frequently. You always see the silver lining unless you get a flat tire. Then all hell breaks loose. You like to take photos looking into the distance. Pinot Grigio is your drink of choice.

A Color. You go from happy to sad very easily and are often contemplating your dreams. You have a job but your passion lies elsewhere. You have a coffee mug with your name on it. Your nails are usually painted a bright color and you love white wine spritzers and moscato.

A Proper Place. You were born here, raised here, moved here, or think this place is where all life stems from. You haven't traveled much but you can tell anyone the in's and out's of where you have been. You use word's like M'am and your pictures are almost always perfect. You usually spill on yourself and you love Martinis.

Your role/job. Examples: "Wife" "Lawyer" "Momma" "Scribe" You have at least 1 pet and you upload artsy photos on Instagram. You're a good cook and excel in multitasking and organization. You write in-length about your struggles about anything that's on your mind in a way that others can relate to or laugh at. You're an expert on beer and prefer it in a frosty mug.

Hair Color. Examples: "Blonde" "Brunette" Your hair is the central feature in all photos, as it should be. You tend to give tutorials and often expand on your new favorite product/shoe/bag/skater dress. What you studied in college has absolutely nothing to do with what you're doing now- thank god. Sometimes people mistake you for a celebrity. Red bull Vodka or die.

Drinks. Examples: "Vodka" "Tea" "Starbucks" You practically keep (insert drink name) in business. You often write while drinking and you also run marathons. You're obsessed with your college sports team and that's only because they're the best. You frequent Forever 21 and you win at most card games.

Action. Examples: "Running" "Dancing" "Crossfitting" You're in better shape than any 18 year old around the block and you're wearing a tank top that proves it. You have bruises, callouses, and blisters that only a mother could love. Speaking of moms, yours taught you everything and is better at everything. You're a little competitive and you like to write lists- whether on or off your blog. You love a good juice cleanse.

When it comes to my blog's name, I clearly come across as a greedy person. What do you think your blog's name says about you?

How To Build Your Dream Closet

A fashion blogger's dream is to own a wardrobe overflowing with endless options of clothes, shoes, bags and accessories. And when it comes to storage, there's no denying that every fashion blogger dreams of a walk-in closet where she can neatly organize and display all of her valued clothing. If you own a house and have a room to spare, you don't need to invest much to get yourself your dream closet.  You should check out closet floor plans, designs and photographs of walk-in closets online to find inspiration and then consult a carpenter or interior designer to help you with the kind of material, structure and exact design that would work for your house/room.

Here are ten walk-in closet essentials -

1. Clothing racks
2. Shelves to display shoes and bags
3. Jewelry stands or drawers
4. A full length mirror (or as many as you like)
5. Hooks and pegs to hang stuff
6. A fancy chair for you to wear your shoes
7. Wall paper and decorative items to suit your style
8.  Armoire for winter wear
9. Vanity mirror for a make up area
10. A chandelier or statement lamps

The ultimate purpose of a walk-in closet is to simplify your dressing process so once you're closet is ready, you need to sort each and every item and place each article of clothing into different sections according to their usage. Allocate a specific area for your casual clothes, one for your work/business clothes, one for your party/evening wear, one for your holiday/ resort wear and the last (and concealed) for your winter wear. This system makes it easy to decipher where each item is whenever you need it. When you walk into your closet, you want to be able to see where every shoe, accessory and item of clothing is. No matter what design you choose, you can easily customize the shelves, racks and compartments to follow your lifestyle.

Shoes can often be one of the greatest causes of closet clutter. If you don't want a vertical wall rack for your shoes like the one above, you can display your collection along horizontal shelves like the closet below. This adds a boutique look to your walk-in and keeps your shoes in good shape. If you choose a placement for shoes according to the season or occasion, keep a designated spot for everything from wedges to flats to boots.

Built-in wooden cabinets and drawers give you space to tuck away shoes and accessories that you don't wear often. Clear shelves and compartments are a convenient and time saving solution to make your morning routine simpler as you can keep everything close at hand and easy to find. You can stack these clear boxes on the floor and on shelves for a budget-friendly organized system.

I hope these tips help you build your dream walk-in closet! How I wish I had the space to make my own!

The Latest Shopping Tools and Features - abof

Online fashion shoppers today have more choices than ever, and websites are trying their best to create a niche that sets them apart from the rest and gain a loyal following. Launched in 2015, Aditya Birla Group’s abof has chosen a very versatile route to become a household name. What makes abof stand out from other Indian fashion websites is that they use smart technologies and a possess a deep understanding of how content works, to let customers experience an immersive shopping experience that starts from customized feedback to finding the perfect fit.

The VR Change Room

One of the worst experiences of online shopping is ending up with an ill-fitting garment. Size charts are not comprehensive enough to cover the nuances of the different styles, looks and cuts that the latest fashion offers. To take this problem out of the equation, abof has introduced a revolutionary virtual reality powered 3D trial room feature. This feature has been rolled out for a large segment of the clothes on the website. All you need to do is try out these specially captured images on a virtual model or avatar. The avatar’s body measurements can be tweaked to represent your exact numbers. You can also try out layered outfits with this feature. This 3D trial room feature is powered by Metail and is the closest experience to a real life change room in the virtual world.

Images for Search

What most experts believe about visual search is that it adds more precision to active searches by users. Abof’s visual search feature is powered by Cloud Sight; a technology which belongs to the US based company CamFind. With this feature, you can click a picture of a garment you like and upload it on the abof app to check if it is available on the site. Visual search is quicker and much more accurate compared to trying to describe a certain pattern or style via the text search.

Delivery Every Day – Even Sundays

Every-day delivery is one of the hallmarks of the abof sales model. You no longer have to unnecessarily wait till Monday for your product as it arrives on the weekend itself as Sunday deliveries help in reducing the transfer time.

Customized Content

When Aditya Birla Group launched abof in 2015, the aim was clear – to create quality fashion content along with the shopping platform. Most fashion content in Indian shopping websites is generic in nature, focused more on discounts and sales, while ignoring the personal aesthetics part and the individual’s taste. With a smart back-end technology, abof curates content to suit the consumer’s taste and this one-of-a-kind personalized feed features style tips and product recommendations. Apart from these, abof’s content covers international style trends and news related to fashion and celebs, all picked by the experts.

At the end of the day, customer experience on the site is crucial to increasing a market share. Abof’s approach is through personalized experiences and powerful shopping tools that reduce the chances of returns. By providing a platform for discovering new looks along with a premium shopping experience, many customers are coming back and choosing the site as their main fashion provider.

It's All About That Lace

Who doesn't love lace? Originally made of linen, silk, gold or silver threads, this delicate fabric has been around for centuries and can now be made from a variety of fibers such as nylon, polyester, linen, wool, cotton, silk and rayon.

The only difference is that while lace was used to decorate everything from dresses to door knobs in the 17th century, today it can be seen primarily used in bridal gowns and lingerie. Because of the way lace can transition from ethereal and romantic to lush and opulent, it’s the perfect fabric for a wedding dress. And the fact that it looks amazing in white doesn't hurt either.

You would be surprised to know that there are numerous types of lace and each has a specific origin and history. Let me tell you about a few of them.

Alençon lace or point d'Alençon lace was first made in France in the 16th century, and is renowned for its fine netting ground, corded outlined floral patterns, and heavenly detailing. Alençon lace is superlative as trim for wedding gowns and bridal veils and consists of a floral design on a sheer or net background and has a soft, cotton-like texture.

Possibly the best known type of wedding dress fabric, Chantilly lace or Galloon Lace, as it can be known, is very fine and delicate and is made on a lightweight hexagonal mesh background. The motifs are sometimes outlined in a heavier silky thread or exhibit shading effects and usually have doubled scalloped edges.

Guipire lace is also known as Venetian lace and is a firm, stiff lace without a net background. Patterns are created by a series of close, embroidered stitches onto fine fabric.

Embroidered Lace: Delicate patterns tightly stitched onto an illusion base, forming the appearance of an applique. Often, pieces of embroidered lace are on top of a separate tulle layer.

Bet you didn't know that there was so much variety and history behind this iconic fabric. Thanks to its intricate construction and romantic floral and geometric details, lace looks fresh season after season, and this is why it has been favored by designers year after year.

Millionaire Organic Hair Mist Review

Since I color my hair every month (red is a pain to maintain and fades to copper in a few weeks as you can see from my present hair color below), I am always on the lookout for products to improve its texture and make it look healthy and shiny. To top that, it's been really rainy and humid here in Pune so it's one helluva fight with frizzy hair on a very regular basis. As you may know, serums are really not the best product to beat frizz during monsoon because they make hair kinda icky and sticky because of the moisture in the air. If you didn't know before, I'm quite obsessed with my hair and get quite distressed if it doesn't look or feel nice so I was on the lookout for a product that would sort out my current hair woes and that's when I discovered Millionaire Organic Hair Mist!

The secret to super shiny hair, Millionaire Hair Mist is a truly innovative new hair care product unlike anything else on the market, the ultimate pick-me-up for dull, tired and lackluster hair, it nourishes and transforms your locks from the inside out for incredible light reflecting, dazzling shine!

Made up of natural and organic ingredients like Aloe Vera leaf juice, organic Blackcurrant extract and Pomegranate extract, Millionaire Organic Hair Mist contains antioxidants which combat harmful and damaging effects from the environment and bring life to damaged hair. This lightweight, multipurpose hair mist styles, hydrates and protects while conditioning, nourishing, moisturizing and hydrating! Even though the bottle says hair oil, the oil is water based and dispersed in a mist and doesn't weigh fine hair down or feel one bit close to oil. No weighing down, no greasiness, just gorgeous salon hair in a matter of minutes.

- Organic aloe vera leaf juice: smoothes, creates shine, attracts and seals in moisture
- Organic Blackcurrant extract: a great antioxidant that helps to combat harmful and damaging effects of the environment gives great volume
- Pomegranate extract: high in antioxidants which help bring life to damaged hair
- Argan oil: provides essential fatty acids oleic and lineoic that benefits dry and dehydrated hair, will restore, regenerate, reconstruct and strengthen
- Sage essential oil: imparts shine, intensifies colour and nourishes
- Ginger essential oil: aids in stimulating hair follicles to promote hair growth
- Castor oil: high in vitamin E, minerals and proteins, omega 6 and 9, replenishes the scalps natural oil and undo some of the damage of harsh chemical hair products
- Solubizer and phenoxyethanol

Millionaire mist can be used in many different ways - Use on damp hair as a conditioning treatment restoring moisture. Spray over evenly before styling, as a shine enhancing finishing spray or spritz hair during the day to revive and control frizz. Freshen and perfume with a seductive scent. Use it on damp hair to detangle after washing. Spray on damp hair after the shower for a refreshing smell!

How it works:
Dispenses as a Mist for treatment and styling. The advanced oils in the product provide a powerful treatment for damaged or frizzy hair. ‘Millionaire’ works by penetrating the hair cuticle locking in moisture and smoothing the surface. Unlike other ‘oils’ that merely ‘coat’ the hair, this oil works from the roots by softening hair, acting as a foundation to protect the hair shaft against impurities, keeping frizz at bay, increasing elasticity and improving the condition of hair. Millionaire will penetrate the hair cuticle and over the next few hours your hair will moisturise and soften, rebuilding and strengthening from the inside out. Its key ingredient, extract of aloe, has a similar chemical structure as keratin (the primary protein in hair) helping to rejuvenate each hair strand, building strength and elasticity.

Buy it here

My Verdict:
A luxury, organic, anti frizz, anti dandruff, anti hair loss, hydrating, moisturising and non greasy hair oil. What else do you need?

Overall, I think this product is just perfect nourishment without weight your hair down. It is especially useful for those who live in a humid climate as it's so light on your hair! I totally recommend it! Millionaire Hair Mist has been featured in top glossy magazines such as Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and Grazia magazine and well-known beauty professionals rave about this being their number 1 hair product.

My Envy Box July 2017

The July edition of My Envy Box followed a #IntoTheWild theme and came with 3 full sized products and 3 sample sized ones. I only liked one product from the entire box so it was a bit disappointing for me.

Starting off with the samples, it had body lotion and scrub sachets by Anatomicals - An international brand which makes  face, body and haircare products, all with brightly colored packaging with cheeky names. They manufacture fun sounding paraben free toiletries. I am yet to try these but wish they gave us bigger samples.

The other sample was a tiny sachet of Iraa Insta Shield Anti Photo Ageing Day Cream which claims to insulate skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays and shield it from sun damages. It also boosts collagen production to reduce UV induced skin inflammation and signs of ageing such as dark spots and wrinkles. Am yet to try this one too.

The only product I loved is Coccoon - Eternal Youth Night Serum (Full Size  Rs.599)
- This is a 7 in 1 treatment which fights all signs of ageing. This powerful, light-weight serum brightens, moisturizes and nourishes skin while providing intense skin repair, reducing dark spots, fine lines. It also boasts of anti-oxidant properties and is non-comedogenic. I love how light the texture is and it feels like you've applied nothing on your skin. It does not have the greasiness or oiliness which we normally associate with serums. I absolutely love it. The best part is it's very affordable too.

Then there's Myoho - French Green Clay Face Mask (Full Size Rs.380) which
combines the goodness of french green clay to deep clean your pores, removes toxins and keep your skin feeling fresh and hydrated. It's suitable for all skin types. There's nothing bad about this product but it just doesn't appeal to me as I don't use any masks.

Lastly there's Vert - Solid Perfume (Full Size Rs.1300) in Tranquil which smells divine but from the reviews I've read, the fragrance lasts for barely 5 minutes and I haven't really tried it yet. Its as small as a lip balm and very pricey for the quantity.

Overall, I wasn't very happy with this box but am hoping we get better products next month!

Get Selfiesh at Westend Mall

It's that time of the year when I hit the mall to get the best deals without breaking the bank! Yup, it's sale season and it's raining discounts at the SELFIE-SH SALE at Westend Mall in Pune. The sale is on till 16th July so hurry and check it out! Located in Parihar Chowk in Aundh, this is the perfect place for you to hit up especially if you stay in West Pune (Aundh, Baner, PCMC, Hinjewadi, SB road, Deccan). I went there during the weekend and was delighted to discover this mall as it's the perfect destination for fashion, food and fun!

Westend Mall houses brands like H&M, Shoppers Stop, Tommy Hilfiger, Globus, WildCraft, Color Plus, Adidas, Global Desi, Adidas, Zoush, Biba, First Cry, Cinepolis, Burger King, MOD and much more. And as you can see, there are massive sales everywhere!

The H&M store here is running a discount of upto 70% off so this is the time to go stock up on basics and update your wardrobe at throwaway prices!

VANS is running a buy 1 get 1 free promo so the store was choc-a-bloc with customers!

This sale is not just for women, men's brands are all running discounts too so this is a good time to stock up on formal wear for all you gentlemen out there.

If you're a denim lover, don't miss Levi's with their flat 50% off!

Lazoush is an interesting store where I found a lot of nice bags and shoes! I totally recommend you to check it out!

If you love wearing ethnic stuff, you must hit Ethnicity! They have a lot of nice traditional stuff and are running discounts too!

One of the most impressive things about Westend mall is that it has amazing food options such as the
famous Good luck café, Wadeshwar and Polka Dots. Westend is the only Mall that can give you the taste of local bun maska and both Starbucks under one roof. Unlike most mall food courts that have really average food court food, Westend mall's multi cuisine food court has a lot of good dining options and I've actually heard a lot of good things about it from friends and colleagues before I even went there! Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed!

Oh and there's some exciting news for all you beauty junkies, Nykaa is opening a store there! How awesome is that!

Once you're done with  shopping and dining, Westend mall also has  Cinepolis and IMAX to ensure ‘larger than life’ entertainment for you!

So as you can see, Westend Mall has something for everyone and make sure you head there as soon as you can to get selfish and make the most of their SELFIE-SH sale which is on till 16th July!

Wedding Dress Trends 2017

A friend of mine recently got married in Fiji and before she zeroed down on her dream dress, she showed me a bunch of options she was confused about. Since I’ve been blogging for a long time and am always on the lookout for new styles and trends around the world, this got me researching bespoke wedding gowns and I got in touch with a friend of mine who specializes in the creation of bridal gowns for wedding ceremonies and has been in the business for almost 13 years now. She obviously encounters a lot of queries from would-be brides regarding what would be the perfect gown to wear for their special day and her answers vary based on many considerations, but one of the most common questions she gets is what is the hottest wedding gown for this year. So with her help, here’s a list of bridal gown trends for 2017:

For Winter Weddings:

She gets a lot of orders of long sleeved wedding gowns that are going to be used for that time of the year. So I think a long sleeved bridal gown is a great choice to be included in my list. Meanwhile, if you can handle the cold, a Strapless Floor-length Chiffon Sleeve Wedding dress with a removable shrug can transform any woman into a stunning bride during winter weddings.

Beach and Destination Weddings:

I handpicked this champagne colored lace wedding dress because colored wedding dresses are in for 2017. The detailing at the back and light lace fabric make it lightweight and easy to walk around in at a destination wedding. Lace is a great option for wedding gowns as it is not very heavy and fits the wearer well. This is probably why Kate Middleton’s chose lace for her iconic Alexander McQueen wedding gown. Lacy textures and appliques lend themselves to all kinds of aesthetics, from ethereal and romantic to gothic and cutting-edge.

Simple and Modest Weddings:

For simple wedding ceremonies, I am more inclined to suggest simple but elegant wedding gowns. I chose this strapless wedding dress because of its simplicity combined with the sophisticated appeal of the rhinestone detailing on the bodice. This dress is elegant without looking over the top.

Grand weddings:

Empire wedding dresses and ball gown wedding dresses are still in for this year, but I chose something that’s easy on the eye (for the viewers) and for the body (for the wearer). These 2 dresses are perfect for any grand wedding. The one shouldered detail of the first one  makes it stand out from conventional wedding dresses and the trail detailing on the shoulder exudes a regal appeal that makes the bride look grand and elegant. The second one looks classy and sophisticated due to its extensive use of satin which lends a royal appearance to any garment. It also features subtle embroidery which adds to the beauty of the dress.

Featured - Top 100 Indian Fashion Blogs

I'm so happy to share that my blog is in the Top 100 Indian Fashion Blogs by Feedspot - a blog aggregation site which lists top blogs in various categories! Check out the badge on the right sidebar of my blog! Blogs have been ranked based on their google reputation and search ranking along with influence and popularity on social media sites, quality and consistency of posts and Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review.

One of my recent collaborations with Accessorize
This is really special to me because this year I complete a decade of blogging and trust me, back when I started, no one in India even knew what a blog was. When I started blogging, it was those Orkut days and Facebook wasn't even popular in India. Over the years, Instagram came up and now there are numerous girls around the world who think posting outfit pictures makes them bloggers but I have stuck to writing because I feel that a blog should be a source of information and help others make decisions rather than just be eye candy. Even though I love Instagram, I keep it a mix of my personal life and blogging and don't want to show everyone a picture perfect life because that's not how life works. I took up blogging because fashion and writing have been my greatest passions and over the years, my blog has evolved beyond fashion and has diversified to topics like product and website reviews, restaurant reviews, gadget reviews.

One of my collaborations with Lakme
Blogging has been a fantastic journey for me - it has helped me make friends from around the world, it got me invited to attend and cover Lakme Fashion Week in 2012, then I won a blogging contest in 2013 and got to travel to Dubai for an all-expenses paid trip and attend a fashion show! Thanks to the blog, I've been featured in various magazines and newspapers (you can check out my press mentions here) and of course I got to work with tons of amazing brands from L'Oreal to ASUS to Hard Rock Cafe and many more. So I'm just humbled and proud of my blog which has been my baby for a decade and a lifetime to come.

One of my collaborations with TIGI
A lot of people assume I'm a full time blogger but I've always had a full time desk job and I currently work as a data analyst and handle digital marketing in a research firm! And this is one of the main reasons that I don't get enough time to shoot or blog and disappear for a couple of weeks sometimes. However, all I want to say to each and every one of you who reads my blog is a huge THANK YOU for all your support! Keep reading :)
