Favorite Fall 2015 Trends

Trends come and go each season but there are always those that catch your eye and makes your inner shopping demon go - Must buy it! To be honest, I'm a weirdo so I don't like wearing major trends (why wear what everyone else is wearing?) but its the less embraced alternate trends that appeal to me. Here are some of my favorite fall trends for this year -

Septum Rings
Though a lot of us would associate the septum ring majorly with cows and tribals, there's something about it that I love. Its an edgy look and though not everyone can carry it off, it looks very cool on those who can. A lot of young Hollywood stars have been spotted wearing one but the pioneer is singer FKA twigs (aka the one who stole Edward from us Twihards) who has been wearing septum rings for a couple of years now! Oh and the cool thing about these is that it looks good on both men and women. And well, if you don't want to get the real deal, you can fake it too, like most of hollywood has.

Lace-up Necklines
If you own a lace-up top or dress, congrats on being ahead of the crowd. This "it" neckline has been spotted on several style muses and I've spotted it on numerous shopping sites too. Whether you opt to embrace the look with a top, dress, or sweater, the lace-up detail is a must-have for fall! It is a tricky piece because inner wear is an issue and definitely looks better on women with smaller chests as it can look skanky on busty women. I got one last month but since its full sleeved and a thick fabric, I have been waiting and will wear it once the weather gets cooler.

Flared Jeans
Boot-cut jeans were our cult favorites in the early ’00s. This shape is very flattering as it is thigh-slimming and a fitted, dark-rinse, mid- or high-rise jean that kicks out just below the knee has great rear-lifting powers. The sharp, sleek silhouette will quickly upgrade the chunky sweaters, lace blouses, and anything else you’re buying this fall. If you browse through fashion sites, you must have noticed that still style has been seen on runways and on the streets on the legs of editors, bloggers and celebrities.

Hijinny - Salon Services At Home

Going to the salon is both a chore and a necessity but wouldn't it be great if the salon came home to you? You're lucky if you live in Pune because now it's possible thanks to HiJinny, an awesome app that brings you the easiest and fastest on-demand professional hair and beauty salon services, delivered at the comfort of your home in an hygienic and affordable way. I recently tried their hair and skin services and was very happy with the experience.

HiJinny offers services like hairstyling, skin, makeup, nail art and much more to primp and pamper yourself. You can either book services on-demand and schedule an appointment in the next 1 hour or at a convenient time later. Their beauty professionals are carefully screened, trained, background checked and use high quality branded products, single serve kits and disposables to meet hygiene and quality service standards.

For my skin, I got a rejuvenate facial done. The technician, Ashwini Mali, arrived before time and and judging from her technique, I could tell that she had years of experience and she even told me that she had worked at numerous reputed salons in her career. Following this, I got a hair spa as my tresses are always in dire need of moisture. This was done by therapist Uma Salunkhe, who did a fantastic job. I was amazed that she carried all the necessary tools for a hair spa and carried out the procedure in my house at such ease. Along with the equipment, both beauticians used disposables towels and sheets to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. Thanks to them, my room became my own personal salon. I live quite far from the heart of the city so bonus points to HiJinny for providing me with their services all the way till the area I stay in.

Outfit - Whatchamacallit

I tend to come up with quirky names for my outfit posts but this time I couldn't come up with anything thus the title. I've always been fond of the crop top with maxi skirt combo and since this one is in my eternal favorite color combo of black and white, you can clearly see what happened next. I found it on Lovely Wholesale, a site full of super cute clothes at fantastic prices. They have a numerous range of unique clothing that I haven't found on other sites and for all of you who are embracing fall, (we're still waiting for the weather to get chilly here in India) they have really nice stylish jackets and cute sweaters at which are really cheap so you don't need to break the bank to update your fall wardrobe. I've got a bunch of cute clothes from them which I'll be showing you in the next couple of weeks!

Moroccanoil® Intense Hydrating Mask Review

As a blogger you want everything to be perfect when you do an outfit post - your makeup, outfit, accessories and everything else. But when it comes to me, it's all about how my hair looks. Ask Akshat, who's been clicking most of the photos for my blog from the beginning of this year (including these). When we sit and select shots, my only criteria is how my hair looks in the picture. Even if he points out a brilliant picture, I'm like, no, my hair looks bad. Delete. So yes, I'm obsessive about my hair! And since I color it and get it chemically straightened every single year, it looks like straw every other day when I get out of bed and I look like a homeless person.  But you guys are gonna be like - oh come on, your hair looks amazing, you have such lovely hair. Well, its all because I have been very lucky to have shot on exceptionally good hair days and the fact that I have been using Moroccanoil® Intense Hydrating Mask religiously to nourish and repair it and make it behave.

Moroccanoil® Intense Hydrating Mask has a high-performance, argan oil–rich formula that deeply hydrates and conditions hair while dramatically improving its texture, elasticity, shine and manageability. You can also use it on color-treated hair and hair that has had keratin straightening treatments. This mask can be used 1 or 2 times a week to maintain healthy looking hair but if you have tortured your mane like I have, you can use it instead of conditioner like I do. Trust me, this 5-minute revival treatment works wonders!

Apply a generous amount of the mask to towel-dried hair and comb through to distribute the product evenly. Allow it to absorb for 5–7 minutes. Rinse and style as usual. For thick, coarse hair, combine approximately 1 teaspoon of Moroccanoil® Treatment with the Intense Hydrating Mask for added shine and elasticity. Unlike other masks, it doesn’t require heat. All you need to do it let it sit on your hair for up to 10 minutes (I'm lazy so I do about 5), rinse it out, and you will immediately see the replenishing results. The mask is rich and thick in consistency and smells fabulous. From the very first time I used it, I was surprised with the results because my hair was instantly so soft, shiny and silky!

To conclude, all I can say is, this is the holy grail of hair masks so go ahead and try it! You will agree with me!

Oktobrew Fest At The Beer Cafe

Its raining October fests all around the city and what else do you want when its hosted at the only café in India with a range of 50 different varieties of beer from 17 countries! Thanks to the Oktobrew fest, Beer lovers can enjoy the Bavarian life with the largest collection of German beers, music and food at The Beer Café.  It’s an entertaining month with great offers on buckets and steins of authentic German beers along with some delicious specials on the food menu.

We started with a newly introduced brand called Bira. The Bira Blonde is a craft lager from Belgium. Made with the choicest two-row barley, extra malty and high hopped with delicate aroma and bitter hops, this flavorful lager is equally at home on a master chef's table an on a casual evening out with friends.

Next up was the Bira White, a wheat beer with low bitterness and a hint of spicy citrus which makes it a refreshing all day craft beer. The packaging of the brand really caught my eye and so did their glasses.

Since, its October fest, we had to try a genuine Bavarian wheat beer so we went for the Schneider Weisse, a full-bodied, sparkling beer with harmonious finish. It is amber-mahogony colored with nuances of ripe bananas, clove, nutmeg and nuts that create the aroma. Goes great with hearty food.

The Oktobrew fest special menu has a variety of sausage platters and we went for the Pork Sausage platter which was nothing short of mind blowing. It came with Garlic Krakauer, German style smoked cheese sausages, curly sausages, coleslaw, roasted corn and potato wedges and all of it was so good, that I can't wait to go back there just for this platter! Must try! If you don't eat pork, there is a chicken sausage platter too, so you can give that one a shot!

Next up was Saint's Whisky Beer - a balanced beer with 'smokey' overtones from the same peated malt that is used in the production of the English whisky at St. George's Distillery (the first English distillery making malt whisky for over 100 years) St. George's Whisky is added at final fermentation to give a smooth and pleasant beer which is rich in flavor. I love strong beers and this one has a distinct alcoholic taste so I absolutely loved it.

For those of you who like their beer's light, there's Saint's Wheat, a traditional beer brewed with Hallertau hops and premium wheat grown on farms in the east of England where the brewery is also located. The recipe results in delicious yeasty flavors with tropical aromas.

The Hollandia is a pilsner brewed in the traditional style with uncompromising dedication to the highest quality. A pure Dutch beer with 5% alcohol, that tastes great and is very refreshing.

Out of all the beer's they have, Viru catches your eye with its octahedral shape which is inspired by the towers and churches of Tallinn, Estonia's historic capital. The beer is clean and refreshing with a light hoppy flavor and gentle vanilla tones.

I was also keen to try Tsingtao, a Chinese beer which has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. Its high-malty flavor and well-hopped character make it a refreshing complement to any Chinese meal.

This one's for all you Goa heads! They serve King's too!

Its cheerful and spacious decor, wide range of beers and great food combined with great service make Okobrew festival at The Beer Cafe a must visit! I've been recommending it to all my friends and you have just over two weeks for it to go so you must hit The Beer Cafe as soon as you can!  I had an amazing time when I last went there (here's the post) and was delighted be back again and try out a variety of crisp and refreshing beers with some very very good grub!

They are present in 3 locations in Pune and I visited the one at Koregaon Park!

An Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Shopping Online

We bloggers may be used to ordering things online, but there are numerous people in the world who still prefer offline shopping as they feel skeptical about shopping online. After all, how do you know that you’re safe when shopping online? Can you ever really be certain? As it turns out, you absolutely can, and there are a few reasons. There is an apparently inherent belief that shopping online is a sure way for you to have your credit card information stolen, and while that might be a legitimate concern in some cases, most of the larger, more robust online shopping establishments protect your information in the same way that most brick and mortar establishments would. Commonly, an online store will use encryption to ensure that your credit card information is safe, but they may also use a token network which ensures even greater security. Now, on to the more important part, which is actually shopping online. How do you do it? What process do you use? It’s not nearly as difficult as you might think.

Getting Started with Online Shopping
The first thing you need to do is find a reputable commerce site, and there are many out there. You can always tell the best sites from those that you should avoid simply because of their reputation. You can read customer testimonials, among other things, and even look at the forms of payment that they are able to accept. This is a great start, and before you know it, you’ll be shopping online like a pro. And of course, you can check out blogs where people have written about their shopping experience with a certain site, like I often do.

Look for Better Prices
One of the greatest parts of shopping online is the fact that you can easily compare prices from different stores. If you shop at Rediff online shopping festival, you can buy from various sellers under one trusted roof, or shall I say platform! You are no longer limited by your ability to travel – you can go anywhere you want online and you can easily get the information you need. If you find a product that you like, always make sure you compare it to other locations, and ensure that you really are getting the best price.

Buy Anywhere
Thanks to the progress of modern technology you can buy anywhere you want, whether it is from your home computer, your tablet, or your phone. If inspiration strikes, you should be able to simply pull out your device and buy what you need rather than dropping all of your plans and heading to the store. Fortunately, you have that ability today.

Fast Delivery
You don’t have to wait for weeks for your purchase to be delivered. Fast delivery is a given these days, especially with shipping options at checkout. You can easily choose the speed at which you want the item delivered by paying a bit more. You can even have next day delivery if you wish to pay the shipping cost!

As you can see, buying online is a great idea and you can get your hands on the products just as easily as you would if you were shopping in a brick and mortar establishment. Start looking for online stores today and change the way you shop forever.

Rocktober Fest At Hard Rock Cafe

Hard Rock Cafe needs no introduction thanks to their fantastic blend of a legendary dining experience and rock music. They've decided to shake things up and add the fun of American Rock-n-Roll with the infamous German Oktoberfest and thus we have Rocktober Fest. Its basically an entire month full of high octane music, a special lip-smacking menu, a variety of international beers, Shandy, beer cocktails and entertainment in the house only at your favourite Hard Rock Cafe.

If you follow me on instagram, you probably know that I eat and drink way more than a fashion blogger should! Then I remind myself that I need to stop eating so much and lay off food reviews. However, its Rocktober so here goes! Hard Rock Cafe has an amazing array of Octoberfest specials and I decided to start with the Watermelon Vodka Hoedown, a delicious and refreshing blend of vodka, watermelon juice, lemonade and beer. I love all the ingredients which went into it, so a mix of all of them just made things better for me! Note the tattoo necklace from my previous post

Octoberfest is incomplete without beer so of course we ordered one too!
What's the perfect snack with beer? Fries of course. And as a part of the special Rocktoberfest menu, they have the Carnival Fiesta Fries which consists of spicy chili garlic fries topped with bbq spice rubbed chicken and smoked chicken frank slices. Yup, fries with chicken! Served with a tangy salsa and a very yummy cheddar cheese sauce. I was on hungry monster mode at this point of time so I didn't bother to take a good picture because all I wanted was fries!!

The special food menu for the festival has a variety of hamburgers (Thai, Jamaican) and hot dogs (Asian, Italian, American, and German) but I skipped them because I'm not much of a bread eater.

I was recommended to try their special shots for Rocktoberfest and so I gave it a shot (haha) They have the tangy orange bomb (a blend of Bacardi orange, orange liqueur, lime juice) and the Carlton's (a blend of dark rum and orange liqueur) Both need to be chased with a glass of beer the same way we have a jagerbomb. We didn't like the tangy orange bomb as it tasted kinda medicinal, however, if you love rum and are in the mood for some shots, Carlton's is a good choice!

Left- Tangy Orange Bomb         Right - Carlton's
I have a weakness of wings so we went for the dry seasoned Rockin Wings which are marinated with their signature smoked dry rub, slow roasted and served with blue cheese and carrots. These are nice and spicy and oh so good. If you ever go to Hard Rock Cafe anywhere in the world, don't miss these!

Impressed with the Watermelon Vodka Hoedown, I then tried the Pomegranate Vodka Shandy which is a mix of Vodka, Pomegranate, Lemonade and Beer. I liked this one even more than the previous because it was really tangy and lemony and super delicious! Oh, and it was served in a cute mason jar mug!

Though I'm a total carnivore, I have a special place in my heart for Greek salad. I went for it with a topping of grilled shrimp. Their version has a lot of greens with the usual blend of tomatoes, cucumber, onion, red pepper, feta and black olives. I prefer a much tangier version with no greens, so this one was a bit mild for me. However, the prawns where heavenly and the quantity was really generous. Make sure you add grilled prawns to your dishes at Hard Rock Cafe because they are out of the world!

Check this out (Yeah, I actually did a before after shot of my food)
Being the alcoholic I am, I wan't quite done drinking and then went for the Raz Rita which is a mix of sauza gold tequila, triple sec, raspberry syrup and fresh squeezed margarita mix. This was my favorite of the lot! Its just so good. If you love raspberries, you must have this one! We also had the Bahama Mama, a blend of rum and coconut rum with banana syrup, grenadine, pineapple and orange juice. Bae liked it but I don't like the taste of banana syrup so I stuck to my Raz Rita.

After killing it with the starters and salad, we finally ended our night at Hard Rock Cafe with the Mediterranean pasta with grilled shrimp. This one comes with fresh green beans, artichoke hearts, oven roasted mushrooms and capers in a light garlic sauce garnished with roasted red peppers, black olives and parsley. I loved how light and healthy it is! Try it out if you're sick and tired of creamy or tomato based pastas.

Here's me with Ketan, who made sure we had a fantastic time at Rocktober fest at Hard Rock Cafe! Rocktober Fest is on till the 8th of November, so you have exactly a month to enjoy the festivities! Don't miss it!

Fall Wishlist

As days get shorter and nights get cooler, October gives us a chance to upgrade our wardrobe with a fun dose of fall style! This is when we can wear our trenches, coats, jackets and boots at ease and I have already building a wishlist for my fall winter wardrobe. I've been on the lookout for the best deals I can find online and was delighted to find a wide range of adorable clothing on Sammydress - a leading global online wholesale supplier of the latest in women's clothing, shoes, bags and accessories. They also stock lingerie, wigs, cosplay costumes, menswear, children's toys, home & living, lifestyle products and many more fantastic items and gift ideas.

Here are some of my favorites that I can't wait to see in my closet -

Being a boho babe at heart, I cant help but lust after this pristine full sleeved dress. An added bonus is that fact that it's white and has fringe details - two of my biggest weaknesses.

Tassel Embellished Scoop Neck Long Sleeve Boho Dress

I'm very fond of earthy tones and neutrals, so this fringed (no surprise here) jacket is the perfect piece to cover up when it gets chilly in the evening. An added bonus is that its versatile enough to be thrown over pants and shorts so it can be worn on a day to day basis.
Tassel Embellished Khaki Jacket

For a formal evening occasion, one would want to stand out of the crowd and this vibrant dress is just perfect for that. The peekaboo lace detailing on the top keeps things sexy while the conservative neckline and silhouette make it perfect for a romantic dinner or party.
Fashionable Asymmetrical Sleeveless Dress

Two piece sets have been trending among fashionistas for a while and I love them because they make choosing an outfit stress free while giving you the freedom to mix and match separates so you basically get three looks. Perfect value for money and style. This lacy white number is chic, sophisticated and classy!
Lace Crop Top + Hollow Out Skirt Twinset

Whenever I see a beige trench, the first thing that comes to my mind is Burberry. There's no denying that this super chic double breasted coat is the epitome of sophisticated outerwear.
Double-Breasted Long Sleeves Coat

When in doubt, wear black! This versatile dress looks like a coat, but is basically a chic dress.
Double-Breasted V-Neck Long Sleeve Dress

I have a thing for cable knits and cardis and this one combines both so I totally see myself wearing this on a cold winter day. I love how it can be paired with cute and casual outfits and look equally at ease over dresses too.
Cable-Knit Dolman Sleeve Cardigan

This phrase obviously needs no introduction but when you're out running errands, a simple sweatshirt is all you need to keep warm. For all you lovers of casual style out there, here's the perfect piece.
I Woke Up Like This Sweatshirt

One of the best things about all these finds is that they are incredibly cheap (most retail at about $10) and the site has actual user photos and comments from people who have bought them so you know exactly what you're buying. We all know that shopping online can sometimes be a gamble and the garment may not fit/appear the same as the photo. But in this case, SammyDress makes it much simpler by including customer testimonials and easing your shopping process when you're ordering from a different country.

Okay, I'm off to their site to update my fall wardrobe so before you go, let me know what's on your fall wishlist in your comments below!!

Outfit - 90s Girl

If you grew up in the 90s, you definitely know what a tattoo choker is. For those of you in India, you might remember that we used to get a set of this free with Elle 18 deos which were quite a rage way back around 1998-2000. It was the accessory du jour among me and my friends when we were eight graders and thanks to the fact that they came free with a deo, we had quite of few of them. Tattoo chokers weren't just for regular people, mind you. They popped up in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer so the whole world was quite smitten by them. If you're from the younger lot of fashionistas, the tattoo choker necklace is a tight, springy, lace-like plastic necklace designed to sit snugly against your neck. They suddenly re-emerged in the fashion scene a few months ago, and I was delighted to see my childhood favorite around once again and got myself a set immediately. The set consists of a bracelet, a ring and a necklace. I was wearing mine when I was in holiday in Bali last month (you can see the post here) and even there I saw a girl walking around wearing one and it brought a smile to my face. Since I'm a fashion chameleon and switch between styles, I feel the necklace goes best with a goth/boho vibe so I paired it with a fitted black bandage crop top and palazzo pants for a casual yet edgy look. I guess my top half gives a 'The Craft' kinda vibe :)
